Description

Meghan Sailing Skiff

Designed by Tracy O’Brien

Meghan has a constant deadrise V-bottom hull with  a capacity of 1-2 passengers and features for & aft flotation chambers. Her rig consists of a 16 foot free standing mast, 9’5″ wishbone boom and 65 square foot sail. The drawings include a 40″ high aspect ratio dagger board, and a kick-up rudder. With a hull weight of about 75Lbs, she is easily car-topped or trailerable. Construction is of Stitch & Glue plywood, with 1/4″ side and bottom panels. Drawings consist of Six 11″x17″ CADD drawn sheets, 11 sheets of typed instructions, and a 4 page sheet of scarphing directions, which cover both the scarphing process and the construction of the required fixtures.

I published a series of Meghan construction articles in Small Boat Journal Starting with issue 68 that includes photos and written narrative. The completed boat was purchased by a reader in Maui: I hope it survived the recent fires.
